Meet the Instructors & Staff

ASHLEY PATCHEN: Owner, BOLD, Hyped AF, Soul Sweat, Zumba

Ashley has always loved dance but didn’t start really dancing until her 20’s. She took over Alchemy in 2018 because as an adult, it was hard to find somewhere to dance that wasn’t a bar or a studio made for pros. She is goofy, has a lot of energy and a passion for dance that radiates in her classes. She’ll push you hard, make you sweat and keep you laughing the whole time. She has a MA in Applied Mathematics from CU Boulder and a BA in Mathematics and Spanish from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.

She is positive, fun, energetic and makes everyone of all levels feel welcome. Ayla has been dancing since she was (literally) in the womb. She’s all about bringing freedom, self-expression, and fun to as many people as she can.

Cassie is ecstatic to be joining the Alchemy team! After moving to Boulder in 2021, she was immediately drawn to the Alchemy's supportive adult dance community and its ability to bring people together. Her love of dance began at three, starting with jazz/tap/ballet and later finding hip-hop and contemporary. She loves that dance inspires self-love, confidence, and creative expression while uncovering new aspects of ourselves.

She has held many different roles- americorps program manager, barista, academic advisor, etc. but has always been drawn to the arts, creative expression, and community-focused spaces. She is an INFJ on the Myers-Briggs Indicator and in her free time loves cooking with her husband, watching movies, and walking their 2 year old collie-lab pup.

She believes that the more we can show up for ourselves, the more we can positively shape the world around us. Outside of the yoga studio, you can find Lauren dancing at Alchemy, in her kitchen, on the trails of the foothills or spending time with her family and friends.

MARIA COOPER: Soul Sweat, Wild Beat

Maria brings an earthy, grounded foundation to her SoulSweat classes while also creating a fiery, energetic experience that is a great workout. She adds a sacred element, focusing on a devoted connection to the body through breath. MARIA ROBINSON: Hyped AF

Maria is a southern belle who hails from the clay roots of Central Mississippi where she discovered and cultivated her love life with movement. Her love for dance stems from her background in majorette dancing native to the southern band culture in MS. From that, she was introduced to elements of jazz, funk, hip-hop, classical, and African. Dancing is her first love and way she release stress/tension from her body! Maria has been certified in Zumba, D2G Soca Fit, WERQ, and is the second instructor teaching Hyped AF at Alchemy! She moved to Colorado in 2017 to pursue a Master’s in Somatic therapy which she finished in 2021. Get ready for Maria to bring her soul, funk, and sweat to her classes!!!!!

MARJEE WISE: Hyped AF, Front Desk

Marjee has been a part of the Alchemy community since 2018. At the age of 7, she got into competitive cheerleading, which was a huge part of her life for over 10 years. After leaving the cheerleading world, she started to dig into other movement & dance forms, including performance hooping at events & restaurants all over Florida.

Marjee's love of dance fitness started with Zumba and she has grown to love all styles of dance and movement, especially hip-hop & contemporary. When she isn't on the dance floor or working hard at the studio you can find her running her cleaning business, reading a good book, or cuddling her kitties.

After a couple sessions with the Feldenkrais practitioner, her pain was gone. Inspired, she completed the 4-year training course and has been teaching students and clients the Method for over 22 years.

This work is all about awareness, and by enhancing awareness, dancers can improve technique, prevent injuries, and explore new possibilities for expression through movement. Her hope is to empower people, giving them the tools to improve their bodies, their brains and their life.

TAYLOR BEST-ANDERSON: REVIVE, Front Desk

Taylor found Alchemy in 2019 through a job listing for a front desk role, initially claiming that they “weren’t a dancer.” No surprise to any of us, after starting the job, they tried a hip hop class and immediately fell in love! Taylor quickly embraced the Alchemy community & their love of dance and created a home for themselves at the studio. Since then, Taylor constantly pushes themselves to explore new dance styles & rhythms, joined a troupe and even completed Alchemy’s teacher training program.

In the spring of 2024, Taylor was officially added to the schedule and is now inspiring others to dance by their side! Taylor's classes are all about creating a safe and inclusive space where dancers can express themselves freely, discover their own unique style, and build confidence in their abilities. You can expect contagious energy that will leave you feeling empowered and alive.
