Studio Assistant

At Alchemy of Movement, our mission is to foster a healthy and happy community through dance and movement. There’s something magical about how movement can transform our bodies, hearts, minds, and souls, and our Studio Assistants play a big part in creating the environment where that can happen.

As a Studio Assistant, you’re often the first person someone interacts with when they walk through the door. Your job is to make people feel welcome, cared for, and appreciated while keeping the studio running smoothly behind the scenes. It’s part customer service, part administrator, part community-builder, part barista, and a whole lot of fun!

Details

  • We're looking for someone to work 2-4 evening shifts per week, typically 3-5 hours each. Our biggest needs right now are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday evenings.

  • Pay for this role is between $18-$22 per hour, depending on experience.

  • You must be 21 years or older.

About the role

  • Get to know our dancers, greet people by name, help new folks feel comfortable, and connect people with everything Alchemy has to offer.

  • Answer emails, phones, and in-person questions about classes, pricing, memberships, cancellations, refunds, and all the other things that come up in a busy studio.

  • Keep the studio running smoothly. You’ll open and close, clean, brew coffee, shovel snow when needed, keep good records, and make sure the space stays tidy, welcoming, and accessible.

  • Support Alchemy’s classes, teachers, events, and marketing. Depending on your skills and interests, that might include social media, posters, video editing, custom apparel, event prep, or other creative projects.

About you 

We’re looking for someone with previous customer-facing experience who genuinely enjoys working with people. You’re warm and empathetic, but also comfortable communicating policies and handling tricky situations when they come up.

  • You’re a strong communicator in person, over email, and on the phone.

  • You’re dependable, punctual, and organized. You can plan ahead and get things done without a last-minute scramble.

  • You can juggle several things at once, prioritize what matters, and manage your time well.

  • You’re comfortable with technology and can find your way around a Mac, Google Docs and Sheets, Zoom, Facebook, Instagram, and other everyday tools.

  • When you donʼt know something, you try to figure it out. You ask good questions, and you embrace the chance to grow and get better. You are a resourceful problem-solver, with a strong desire to learn.

Who You’ll Work With

Ashley Patchen, CEO, Studio Director — You’ll be reporting to Ashley. Ashley will help you grow in this role, and develop your skills. 

Kristy Bousquet, Marjee Wise, Cassie Skamarock— Kristy, Marjee & Cassie work several shifts at the studio and help keep this place running smoothly. You’ll work alongside them on front desk operations, client management, social media, and all sorts of studio projects.

Instructors — You’ll also work closely with our instructors to support their classes, events, and projects around the studio.
